Was there an auto MGB?

I have found an ad for a 75 MGB with an automatic transmission. I have never heard of an MGB with an automatic transmission. Was that an option in 75?

Our answer:

Hi Richard,

A Borg-Warner three-speed T35 automatic gearbox was an option on the B from 1967, but it was abandoned by 1975 – by which time the MGB had rubber bumpers. It may well be that someone has converted a later ’75 MGB with an earlier, factory-spec automatic transmission, but it’s obviously not an original 1975 model as a result. Automatic MGBs, in the main, are very rare anyway, as the vast majority of models had the manual gearbox.
