VRT on importing a 2007 Cayman?

I am considering buying a 2007 Porsche Cayman S, manual with 91,000 miles from Northern Ireland. Would someone be able to advise roughly what the VRT would be on this car as it is not on the Revenue VRT calculator. Thanks in advance for any help!

Our answer:

Hi James,

It's not easy to be precise with such calculations, frustratingly, as they depend on the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP) that Revenue reckons the car is worth. That's very difficult to predict, especially for a rare car such as the Cayman. Let's take a guess of €30,000.

Next you'll need the CO2 rating. I believe it was rated at 254g/km on the old NEDC system, so even without applying Revenue's 'uplift' calculation to come up with an equivalent WLTP rating, it's in the top band for VRT - at 41 per cent.

Based on an OMSP of €30,000, that would mean a VRT bill of €12,300.
