It would be in the top band for VRT, commanding 41 per cent of the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP). That's the price Revenue believes the car to be worth on the Irish market and it's tricky to estimate for rarer cars such as the GTI. For example, if the OMSP is deemed to be €10,000, then the VRT would be €4,100. 

Don't forget you'll also be liable for VAT and import duty if bringing a car from England, along with the usual NOx levy.
