Hi VRT on Porche Macan 2018 17.000K Many Thanks Frank
Hi Frank,
Our estimates of VRT are very much just that, especially as they depend on the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP), which is a figure Revenue thinks the car will be worth in Ireland. That's quite difficult to guess when it's a niche model like the Macan.
With that all in mind, let's assume an OMSP of €75,000. If our data is correct, that model emitted 185g/km of CO2. Revenue now 'uplifts' CO2 figures of older cars so they are comparable with the newer WLTP regulations, so that will bring the Macan up to 205g/km. That means a VRT rate of 37 per cent, which, with an OMSP of €75,000, means a potential VRT bill of €27,750.
As you probably know, you'll have to pay a NOx levy on top of that and if the car is coming from England, Scotland or Wales, you'll also be liable for import duty and VAT.
