To estimate the VRT (and it will only be an estimate as Revenue may see things differently after the car is inspected), we need the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP) and the CO2 emissions. The OMSP is the value Revenue believes the car to be worth after registration in Ireland, and it's tricky to guess at for a relatively rare car such as the Ghibli. Let's assume it's €30,000 for our calculations.

Now, the CO2 rating of that car in 2015 may have been under 160g/km, but Revenue 'uplifts' that using its own formula to an equivalent WLTP value, which would put the diesel Ghibli into the top band for VRT, at 41 per cent of the OMSP - or €12,300 if the OMSP is €30,000.

Be aware that you will also have to pay a NOx levy on this car, which will be hefty as well.
