VRT on 2014 Nissan Juke?

What is the VRT on a 2014 nissan juke 1461cc diesel with 78000 miles

Our answer:

Hi Gerry,

This is the sort of car that it might once have made sense to import, but no longer – thanks to the NOx tax on top of VRT penalising older, polluting diesels like this. Assuming an Open Market Selling Price of around €10,000 for a Nissan Juke 1.5 dCi of this age and mileage, its 104g/km of CO2 generates 16 per cent VRT in Band A3, which is €1,600. However, it also emits 176mg/km of NOx and that, using the sliding scale of taxation, adds another whopping €2,835 onto the bill – meaning you’ll pay €4,435 just to import this Nissan. You’ll be a lot better off buying one on the second-hand market here in Ireland.
