How much VRT and Nox tax will I pay on. new 2021 Peugeot 208 1.2Puretech automatic
Hi Maggie,
It depends on which version it is, as that will affect the OMSP (Open Market Selling Price). According to Peugeot Ireland's website, the 208 1.2 Puretech 100hp automatic starts at €22,250 and its WLTP CO2 rating is 123g/km. That means it's in Band 11 for the new VRT bands (121-125g/km), at 15.75 per cent of the OMSP. Hence, the VRT would be €3504.37. I can't find the NOx figure quickly, but it shouldn't be more than a few hundred Euro. The maximum for a petrol car is €600.
I assume you are looking at importing this car. If you're not, then those figures are of no real use to you as they're included in the price that Peugeot Ireland is quoting for the car.
If you are looking at importing a car from the UK after January, there's a big unknown in terms of duty, depending on how Brexit negotiations go. It could add another 10 per cent of the car's price in the UK (including shipping to Ireland) to your cost. On top of all that, even if nothing changes about the rules and costs due to Brexit, if you're looking at importing a car that is under six months old, or has less than 6,000km on the clock, you will also have to deal with VAT.
