There were many different versions of the GTI, and even a different gearbox can change the official CO2 rating, so we're going to go with 148g/km. That would put the car into Band 16 for VRT, at a rate of 25 per cent. That's calculated based on the OMSP (Open Market Selling Price) of the car as dictated by Revenue. We'd estimate a worst-case value of €30,000, but it should be between that and €25,000 in reality. At €30,000, the VRT bill would be €7,400.

The NOx figure will vary from model to model as well, but the levy is capped at €600 for petrol cars so assume that as the worst case.
