There are a few XC90s around for under €5,000, but they are all at least 12-14 years old, so you need to buy very carefully, make sure the car comes with a full service history and have it professionally inspected to see if the clutch that controls the four-wheel-drive system has burned out. If it’s a really comfy seat you need, rather than the car itself, there are some other options. You could consider the Volvo V40, which has terrific seats, and you’ll be able to get a much younger car. Or how about an Opel Insignia, whose seats are approved of by the AGR, the German bad back association? Worth thinking about.
