Quite different cars really. Technically, the Volkswagen is actually a four-door coupe (although you’ll find it’s actually surprisingly practical in the back and boot as long as you don’t need to regularly seat someone in the middle of the back) and is really nice to drive. Not all that sporty to be honest, but smooth and very satisfying. Looks great too.
However I think I’m going to come down on the side of the Mazda. I’t not quite as sexy to look at as the Passat CC, but it’s fractionally sharper to drive, comes with a terrific diesel engine and is hugely reliable, plus it’s a little more spacious and practical. In fact, could I suggest you try and track down one of the really nice estate versions?
