Thanks for your reply but what i see on the Internet if your importing a vintage car from England you have to pay 23% duty plus vrt see this car was bought in Birmingham classic car show and brought to nothern ireland but it wouldn't have been imported here ?

Hi Brendan,

Those circumstances change things in that case. If the classic car was not officially imported into the North and used there "for a reasonable amount of time" by a private individual then importing it to the Republic of Ireland is likely to mean 23 per cent VAT and 10 per cent import/customs duty, plus the €200 flat rate of VRT if the car is over 30 years old of course.
