You've not told us what size car you need and finding a luxury brand within that budget means either a smaller car or an older one. And older ones go against your call for reliability. So, we'll offer a few options, but come back to us with your needs in terms of size and annual mileage.

A look through the Carzone database revealed these within budget:

- Audi Q2 or Q3 - the latter is significantly more substantial and not a bad bet.

- BMW X1 or X3 - the latter is an older car and not really ideal in terms of reliability, while the X1 compares well to the Q3 above.

- Lexus RX 450h - not many around at that price, and they're older, but they are very reliable and luxurious.

- Mercedes GLA - more of a jacked-up hatchback than a proper SUV, but not a bad car.

- Volkswagen - quite a new T-Roc is within budget, though not really luxurious. The more substantial Tiguan is also available, though older. Good car, though.

- Volvo XC60 - this is a good option I reckon.
