I have a 141 Opel Corsa Excite with 165km and I want to trade in and get something newer with less mileage my budget would be about €12k max which would include the trade in price. I have been offered 4K, 5K and 6K from car dealers for the car. I do 23km per year and on the motorway most weekend but I sometime find that when I am overtaking even with my foot to the floor my car is slow to respond. I love my heated seat but I know they are not common in small cars. I want to know if I should go for a diesel and if so what type? Do you know if I could heated seat fitted after I buy a car without them? thanks
Hi Pauline,
We have to say, if you’ve been offered €6,000 as a trade-in price on a 141 Corsa Excite with more than 160,000km on the clock, bite the dealer’s hand off! They’re typically only worth €7,000 with less than half that mileage, so that’s a ridiculously generous trade-in offer. If you want heated seats, look at Japanese and Korean cars (e.g. Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Micra, Kia Rio or Hyundai i20) as they tend to offer this tech on their superminis – you can retro fit heated seats from aftermarket companies, but they’re not very good. Much better to get factory-spec bum-warmers. Your annual mileage would normally indicate you should get a diesel but, in reality, good modern superminis with modern turbocharged petrol engines are almost every bit as good on fuel and there will be no fear of future tax penalties, as there could be on some diesels.
