Hi Shane, I want to trade in a 2011 Nissan Micra 1.2 XE Hatchback, with 99,961kms. There are a few small dents but has a good service history. I'm thinking of buying a VW Caddy Van & am prepared to spend 10,000euros including the trade in value of nissan. The nissan was bought from dullick nissan in Ennis, County Clare by my father & the nissan he had before this one, so he was a good customer. Would I be better to buy a newer car or van from nissan, & take out a five year car loan. I want to buy a 1.5 up to 2.0 litre engine, or should I shop around. What would you recommend that would have good resale value and good kms/litre? I'm thinking of setting up my own PV solar installation business or looking for a job in energy management. I have savings that I am using to buy vehicle. Regards John
Hi John,
Further to your earlier question, the Micra is going to net you around €2,000 on a trade-in. You would get a very decent used Caddy for that cash and it would be a fairly safe investment that won’t lose a lot of money during your ownership, whereas signing up for a brand-new van on a PCP deal will be more expensive. However, if you’re running a business and you want the reliability/warranty cover peace-of-mind of a new vehicle, then have a look at spending your €10,000 (made up of cash and the Micra trade-in) as the deposit on a Nissan NV200 with the 110hp dCi 1.5-litre engine. Could be a sound investment for your business.
