Tiguan or 5 Series?

Tiguan or 5 Series?

I'm trying to choose between two used cars, which are around the same price with similar mileage: a Tiguan Allspace and a BMW 5 Touring. Space for 3 kids and a good boot are important factors. Which would you recommend? Many thanks.

Our answer:

Hi Sean,

That's a tough one, especially without further information including engine types, etc. The biggest question I'd have is about the age of the kids. You'd find it very difficult to get three child seats (or even boosters) across the back seat in the 5 Series Touring. It's possible depending on the bulkiness of the seats, but not very easy. The Tiguan makes that a breeze. The Tiguan also has a much larger boot than the BMW when only its front two rows of seating are in use - and its cabin is more versatile in general.

Now, if you don't need to fit in three bulky car seats, then the BMW comes back into play as it is more enjoyable to drive and more comfortable. It also has, depending on the engine, the potential to be more economical and cheaper to run.
