Hello you who reads this, I was wondering if I should buy this secondhanded Audi A1 1.4 TFSI 185bhp with 200xxx km's around 130k miles. It looks pristine. Had a big transmission revision, new brakes,.. history book for a just under 11k (euro's). Counter offer would be a 1.6 tdi 63.000km great looks, but no where near the pocket rocket for the same price. I would probably keep the car for atleast two years. Living in a big city, mostly long voyages, like 70 miles'ish a week. I reserved a test-ride Monday. Does a 185bhp have steering paddles for switching gears? If one doesn't would that mean that its been chipped? Thank you for reading, looking forward to your opinion! Have a good one, Wes
Hi Wes,
You mention long journeys, but then that you only do 70 miles a week. To our minds that's very little mileage and a diesel would not be a good choice at all. Diesels don't work well in such circumstances, with things like the DPF and other diesel components gumming up due to rarely getting up to full operating temperature.
The 1.4 TSI is a lovely engine and very fast. If you like that performance, and the car checks out, then go for it. There's a great 1.0 TSI engine available in the A1, too, which makes for a terrific town car with lower running costs.
I don't see why gear-shift paddles would be removed if the car is chipped to be honest.
