Thoughts on these used cars?

Hi. I am going to buy second hand Volkswagen CC 2.0 2016 or Honda Civic 9th gen 2016 1.6 diesel from dealer who states that all cars come with 3 months warranty, they are fully serviced and all cars go thru 101 point health check. Should I still take the car to other garage to be checked or thrust that the cars need nothing and are 100%? and if the cars are 6 years old with 170k kilometers will they require big investments soon? and what car between these two would You recommend. Thank You

Our answer:

Hi Martin,

Well, if the dealer has no problem with you getting someone else to check the cars over, and you have someone to do it, there's no harm in doing so. So long as both have been serviced properly since new (and not just at the last minute before you take delivery), they should be well able for high mileages, though yes, diesel cars of that age are likely to require some maintenance in the next few years, depending on how and where they are driven.

As to which one to go for, it probably comes down to personal preference. The Volkswagen is a little bigger and more comfortable, and possibly more powerful depending on which version of the engine it has (assuming it is also diesel), but the Honda is more agile and comes with that brand's excellent reliability record.
