Thoughts on the new Golf?
Hi Shane, Thanks for your response re VW Golf. I would like to hear what you think about the new Golf being announced this week, after you have had time to review. AND ...... Same question in respect of the new Golf/Petrol - what is the lowest engine size with automatic transmission. Thanks for your help. Evelyn

Hi Evelyn,
At the moment, the smallest engine on which you can get the seven-speed DSG automatic on a Volkswagen Golf Mk8 is the 1.5 eTSI petrol. In the near future, 1.0-litre TSI engines (including an eTSI) will come onstream and they should also offer the DSG, but they’re not for sale yet. As to the car in general, it is as you’d expect of a Golf: a supremely high-quality hatchback with very few weaknesses and plenty of strengths. It’s a pricey new car but it’s well worth it.
