Thoughts on the Ford Kuga?

Hi, looking at a Ford Kuga 2016 with 29,000 miles is there anything that I should be looking out for that may give us problems down the road. It’s a 2 L diesel and will be driving down the country once twice a week and around Dublin. Are they a good buy?.

Our answer:

Hi Noel,

The Kuga is a fine enough car and if you’ve driven it and like the way it handles/rides/looks, then there’s no reason not to buy it. The current Kuga is proving to be a reliable car with owners, so the main thing to look for are any issues with the turbo on the diesel engine – these would manifest as white smoke from the exhaust on cold-start-up or during hard acceleration, or blue smoke at any point. Either of these could indicate the turbo is on the way out and will need replacing.
