Thoughts on buying a Japanese import...

Hi I'm considering buying a Japanese import - Mitsubishi Outlander 2022 or 2023. Is it risky to pay €34,000 and upwards for something that has a 3 or 6 month warranty. Plus, I worry about servicing etc. Thank you!

Our answer:

Hi Triona,

Only you can make the call on how comfortable you are with the purchase and warranty, though the Outlander should be reliable. Any good mechanic will be able to work on the car, but we would worry about parts availability as that model was not sold in Ireland over those years. And finally, ask about an immobiliser and alarm, as your insurance company may stipulate them, but many Japanese imports don't have them fitted.
