Thoughts on BMW hybrids?
Looking at BMW 3 and 5 series from 2020 onwards. A lot of second hand/ nearly new are now showing as 330e and 530e as opposed to 320D and 520D. Which is the best purchase for a driver doing 15000 Km per annum . Are the 330e and 530e self charging or plug it. How does the economy stack up against each other. Does the E versions run on petrol alone if no charge is available?

The 330e and 530e are plug-in hybrids, so you really need to plug them in to get the best economy from them. In the real world, they're both similarly efficient despite the size difference. And yes, if you don't charge up the battery packs, they run on petrol, but it's not the most efficient way to drive.
