Hi - my son is buying a 07 Opel Corsa 1 litre - what should he look out for when buying - does the car have a belt or Chain? Are they reliable? Would you recommend Thank you.
Hi Mark,
The 07 Corsa isn't the worst in terms of reliability, but a 13-year-old car can't be expected to be as-new either, obviously.
The 1.0-litre engine has a timing chain.
A few things to watch out for:
- Make sure it's not difficult to engage gears, as it could mean a gearbox-out job to remedy.
- The dials in the instruments may appear to fluctuate and the warning lights come on randomly. That requires some fiddly wiring work behind the dashboard.
- Poor throttle response is likely to be due to an air leak somewhere, but it's known to be difficult to trace and fix.
