Im thinking of buying a petrol 1.4tsi se yeti 125,000 miles. What questions should l ask re belts/ chains etc ...thanks
Hi Maggie,
If that's the first-generation Yeti, then the engine has a timing chain. If there is no evidence of it being replaced in the past, have a good mechanic listen to it on cold start-up to make sure it's not on the way out.
A new version of the 1.2 TSI engine arrived in 2015, using a timing belt instead. It should be changed every five years regardless of mileage.
Other than that, make sure the car has been serviced properly and that no warning lights remain on when the car is driving.
