Thinking of buying a Renault Captur

Hi, would just like to know if you had any feedback on what the Renault Captur is like to drive; thinking of buying one.

Our answer:

Hi Larry,

The Captur is selling exceptionally well for Renault, and unlike some Renaults of old, that doesn’t seem to be down to savage discounting – it’s a genuinely popular car. Not hard to see why really – it was easily the best looking of all the small crossovers, until the Mazda CX-3 came along, and it’s still right up there in terms of looks.

Reliability-wise, it should be fine in the longer term. Renault has made great strides to improve its quality ratings in recent years and the 1.5 dCi diesel and 900cc three-cylinder turbo both seem to be robust engines. Our only major concern would be with the interior, which looks and feels a little cheap compared to some of the competition. We’d be concerned that it might not wear so well as the years go by.

As far as driving goes, it’s fine. Not exceptional but it doesn’t put a foot wrong in dynamic terms and it’s comfortable over bumps.
