Yes, the ix20 will be discontinued shortly, as it has effectively been replaced by the new Kona small SUV. That 1.4-litre petrol engine is a pretty old design, so it’s not up to scratch in comparison to more modern engines, and it will probably prove to be a bit underpowered, yes. And then revving it hard to try and get around the lack of performance will hurt the fuel economy. A better option entirely might be to go for the i20 hatchback, which is a much more modern design, has almost the same interior space as the old ix20 and can be had with a much sweeter 1.2 petrol engine.
