Believe it or not, they rust - check for corrosion around the boot lid. The mirror-mounted indicators can fail, as can the optional gas discharge headlights. If it's a diesel model then check that the air mass sensor has been replaced, while petrol models need regular spark plug replacements. Fuel injectors on BlueEfficiency models can fail, too. Inside, checked for ripped leather seats, faulty air conditioning or malfunctioning COMAND infotainment systems. Knocking from the front suspension means the springs are going while the seven speed automatic gearbox is prone to failure as well.
