Thinking of a new Dacia...

Hi I am thinking of buying a new Dacia Stepway or Duster as it is the only thing in my price range with no deposit. I do about 10-15000km a year and have no kids just 2 dogs. I want something reliable but have heard some bad things about the Dacia's not being so. Can you advice

Our answer:

Hi Caroline,

Dacias are actually mechanically simple and while the Sandero Stepway and Duster are not exactly plush inside, we’ve not heard horror stories about their reliability. If you’re talking about a new car, which it sounds like with mention of a deposit, then the Duster is definitely the one to go for – try and get a turbocharged petrol model, like the TCe 130, if you can. This is the engine used in the latest Mercedes A-Class, among more, so it’s hardly likely to be woefully unreliable.
