Thinking of a Daewoo hatch...

Thinking of buying a daewoo 1.3 hatchback 2000 1.3l only 58k miles tax until next year was wondering is thus a good but anything too look out fir in particular why would the previous owner have taxed it for a year and then got rid a few months later (its being dold through a dealer so probably a trade in)

Our answer:

Hi Ronan,

We wouldn’t be worried about the tax – it is, as you’ve probably said, most likely a trade-in car, so the owner probably needed it roadworthy until they sold it or chopped it in for something else. What we would say is that a 2000 Daewoo Lanos is very, very basic motoring; unlike modern bargain cars, like the current Dacia models, the Daewoo was built on what was (even then) old technology and down to a (very low) price. In short, it’s not a nice car to own, so unless it’s about €500 and you are absolutely desperate for a vehicle, we’d advise you to look elsewhere.
