Just test drove a really clean E220 coupé AMG Plus , 2016, 60,000 km that I'm thinking of buying. First Merc to drive. Looked great from the outside, has everything but the drive didn't grab me. I thought I'd be thrown back in the seat in sport mode. It felt older than 4 years.Even the indicator noise annoyed me. It's in a Mercedes garage and has three services .Is this normal or I am just used to my BMW 320 sport.
Hi William,
This is probably because – as a 2016 car – it was the previous-generation ‘C207’ E 220 Coupe and not the current ‘C238’ model. As a result, it has a 168hp/400Nm turbodiesel engine and it’s not the liveliest motor in the world, certainly not compared to BMW 2.0-litre units. Things improved with the C238 to a 194hp engine but obviously they cost more. You might want to stick with BMW; people do build up brand loyalty and once you’re ‘familiar’ with a certain German marque, the other two inevitably feel like riding someone else’s bike.
