Hi,I sold a car two years ago for scrap, the buyer said he would send on an end of life cert but never did.A few months ago a car similar to mine with my old licence plate went through the toll.I have had no luck with finding a solution with the motor tax office.I know there is an action i can take but nobody will point me in the right direction.Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks,Ciarán
Hi Ciarán,
If you didn't inform the Driver and Vehicle Computer Services Division of the change of ownership etc. when you sold the car, then you may have some difficulty now. You should never rely on anyone else to do this, no matter what they say.
I suggest you get in touch with eflow.ie right away, though they may suggest you need to have the official ownership of the car changed before they can do anything.
To do that, contact the Shannon Office for Motor Tax, Log Books and change of vehicle ownership with all the details to hand, including dates of transfer of ownership and the name and address of the person you sold the car to.
Hopefully they will sort it out for you quickly.
Ask us anything motoring related and please provide as much information as possible so we can give you the most accurate advice.
