Tell me more about extended warranties.
Hello, I have a 2012 BMW 5 Series and the warranty expires next month. BMW is looking for about €1,000 per annum to extend the warranty - have I any alternatives? And is this extended warranty worthwhile?

Hi Alan,
Extended car warranties can be very useful. Most of the 'approved used' scheme warranties are effectively an insurance policy against components failing and most of them are underwritten by insurance giant Mapfre. Mapfre does offer some direct-to-consumer products too so it might be worth getting in touch with them to see if you can get the same cover a bit cheaper.
