Tax and insurance on my car?
Hello I’m hoping you can help me as I’m due to get a car new week it 1.8 engine 05 used I’m just wondering how much is the tax and insurance on this one hopefully it’s not too high as I cannot afford it I’ve been checking this but not sure what I’m looking at it’s very confusing as I don’t understand it

Cars from 2005 in Ireland were taxed on their engine size, but you’d need to know its exact cc. A 1.8 could be anything from 1,751cc to 1,850cc, and this matters because if its 1,751cc-1,800cc, it would be €636 per year for tax and if it’s 1,801cc-1850cc, it would be €673 per year to tax. In terms of insurance, you're going to have to speak with a broker or get quotes online, as policy prices vary massively based on a wide number of factors.
