Should we switch to the Enyaq?

Should we switch to the Enyaq?

We have a seat Alhambra advanced HP 180 auto and it is costing us up to €300 a month on fuel. I am starting a new job which will mean extra 100kilo a day, not including children's football matches which are starting. We love our car as we have a family of 3 under 12 but we are thinking of changing it to the new skoda enyaq to save money as we still are paying for the seat as well. it is a huge amount of money out of pocket each month. Would we save or is there anything we can do to our car to help it reduce fuel consumption?

Our answer:

Hi Eimear,

We, too, have a family of three, the eldest 12. This year we changed over from a Touran to the Volkswagen ID.4, which is essentially the same as an Enyaq. The latter has a small bit more boot space. You will likely fit in ok, but I'd suggest you'll miss the even bigger boot of the Alhambra, never mind its extra seats for when friends or cousins are getting a lift home.

Anyway, that aside, the cost per km of an electric car is far lower than a petrol or diesel model. Well, it is if you can charge it up easily at home and not rely on the public charging network. That's a key thing to check - do you have off-street parking and somewhere you can have a charger fitted?

Other than that, you've not quoted your daily average distance, but with a realistic range of over 400km (depending on model) between charges, it's likely the Enyaq will be fine. Your biggest issue might be getting one this year, as supply is limited.
