Is it OK for the oil warning light to stay on up to 5 seconds when starting from cold. The car is a Hyundai i40 diesel from 2014.
Hi Douglas,
That light indicates whether oil pressure is sufficient and it should go out quite soon after the engine starts up. If it is taking longer to turn off than it used to, then you should check the oil level immediately. If that isn't low in any way it's worth getting a mechanic to check things over, as it's crucial that the correct oil pressure is achieved quickly.
