I drive a 2010 Renault megane 1.5 diesel 86bhp with 230,000km on the clock- theres a humming noise which sounds like the gearbox gone lately. I will be finished paying finance on the car in the next 2 months. I am in two minds as to whether to cut my losses and try to get a trade-in deal on something else, or put more money into repairing the car. Any advice/tips?
Hi David,
Well, generally speaking, keeping an existing car running is always going to be cheaper than the cost of trading up to a new one, so if finance is your key concern, it’s better to get your existing car fixed. The only benefit to trading up, financially speaking, is that you can spread your cost across the loan package.
