Should I replace my Rapid's belt?

Should I replace my Rapid's belt?

Hello, I have a 2016 Skoda Rapid Spaceback, and I'm about to go a long drive (1600miles +). Though it's 6 years old, it only has 44,000miles on the clock. I'm trying to determine if it has a cam belt, or a cam chain, (different service intervals?) and if I should be having that replaced before the trip in 3 weeks' time. Full spec is: Skoda Rapid Spaceback Se Tech T 1197 Petrol Manual 6 gears All advice welcome! Kind regards, Paul

Our answer:

Hi Paul,

That car's cam belt should be replaced at least every five years, regardless of mileage. So, if you've never had it changed, it should be done as soon as possible.
