Should I replace my Passat with an Octavia?

Hi, I am going to change my car to the Skoda Octavia diesel, but was wondering if you could recommend any other diesel family cars that are economical with large boot space and lower end tax. I've been driving a Volkswagen Passat for last 10 years and it's served me well so looking for same reliability and the rest above.

Hi Aisling,

The Skoda is a cracking choice and sounds like it fits your needs just about perfectly. Plus it has one one of the biggest boots around so it's hugely practical.

It's worth looking at a couple of others though. The Ford Focus is really sweet to drive, although it can't match the Octavia for boot space. The Honda Civic Tourer is actually bigger in the back than the Skoda but it is that bit more expensive. Still, it's probably the most reliable car you can buy. Toyota's Auris Sports Tourer is massive inside and really comfy or there's the very classy (and spacious) Peugeot 308 SW.
