Should I let Audi carry out the emissions fix?

Hi I own a 131 Audi A5 2.0 TDI outright. I bought it new. It's my pride and joy and the VW emissions scandal really bothers me. I have an invite from Audi to present my car to have the issue rectified. The trouble is I don't trust them. From my online research the "fix" is not a guaranteed success. Would you allow them to carry out the fix? I'm due a service in the next 6 weeks and I would value your opinion.

Our answer:

Hi James,

Yes, we would definitely advise you to get the work done as and when Audi schedules you in. For a start, there’s no reason (at the moment) to believe that the work won’t be effective –– it has been independently approved by the German transport ministry. Secondly, if for any reason the modifications should turn out to be ineffective, you will be in a stronger position (legally) if you’ve stuck to the schedule and had the work done.
