Should I go for one more new diesel?

Hi Carzone advice, I am thinking of purchasing a new diesel Audi A6 for 2018 (trading in my current diesel Audi A6). I travel in excess of 20k kms per annum. I'm on PCP finance with a guaranteed future value. I am aware that diesel is becoming a thing of the past with the emissions problem, however I don't feel that it will impact here to any great extent in the immediate future. On this basis I feel that I am safe to go at least one more diesel car! I normally change every 3 years. Can you give your view on this please.

Our answer:

Hi Paddy,

Yes, I think that, given that there was no move against diesel in the Budget a couple of weeks ago, then you are free and clear to buy a new diesel car and keep it for three years. After that, I think it might be time to start looking at either a hybrid of some sort, or a new-generation petrol engine, but for now diesel should be fine (fingers crossed…)
