Apologies if asked previously. I'm thinking of coming up a couple of years. I currently drive a 2015 E class 2.2 diesel. I cover well under 20K kms a year. Would a 2018 BMW 530E be a wise choice? I'm aware it's a big car.... I like the comfort :-) Are the maintenance costs high with a car full of technology? Thanks in advance
Hi Tom,
I think that would be a great move for you, assuming you can plug the car in regularly at home and/or at work - plug-in hybrids only work when you do that, really. Aside from that, we don't expect more maintenance than a diesel. In fact, I'd suggest there could be less as time goes on, especially with low mileage, as diesel engines gum up and are not suitable for such use. Electric components such as motors and batteries are generally quite reliable and maintenance-free.
