Should I consider a crashed and repaired van?

A 12 reg English import Kangoo van has been crashed but rebuilt and certified as being as good as when first left manufacturer. Only 14,000 miles, reasonable price. Could it be a good buy?

Our answer:

Hi there,

Tread very carefully. There's nothing wrong, exactly, with buying a crashed and repaired vehicle, but it depends hugely on how big the original damage was and who carried out the repair. I think it would be worth getting the car assessed by the AA before you buy, and it could be worth contacting the original insurer to find out if the repairs were carried out properly.
