Should I change my Golf's timing belt?

Should I change my Golf's timing belt?

I have a 05 1.4 golf it’s on 95,000 since timing belt was done last what’s the maximum you’d get out of it would you get 100,000??

Our answer:

Hi Cian,

It's recommended that the belt on your car is checked every 30,000km so it's very much overdue that. You should always be cautious with timing belts rather than seeing how far you can push them as when they snap they can cause a lot of expensive engine damage, plus it could happen at a dangerous time, while on the outside lane of the motorway at speed, for example.

I suggest you get it changed as soon as you can.
