Should I change my Golf's belt?

Should I change my Golf's belt?

I have a 2016 (161) Mk7 golf TSI 1.4, currently sitting at 86K miles, should I get my timing belt changed ASAP or will I get another bit out of it? Just worried it will slip soon and don’t want to regret not changing it on time

Our answer:

Hi Aoife,

The official advice is that it should be checked at 240,000km and then every 30,000km after that until the mechanic deems it necessary to change it. There's no harm in getting it checked, however. It shouldn't cost very much to do that to put your mind at ease.
