Should I change my car now or later?

Hi, acouple of questions I hope you might help with.

What trade in value should I get for my 2011 C4 Grand Picasso in very good condition and with 65000km on the clock? I want to trade it in for a new or nearly new similar car. I also don't know whether to hold onto it for another year and trade in then or do it now. It's hard to know what's right. I was looking at a new C4 or a Kia Carens. Any ideas? I'd be grateful if you could give me any tips at all.

Our answer:

Hi Frank,

Good news – your Picasso is very much a vehicle in demand at the moment, and there is still a distinct lack of solid four-to-five-year-old used cars in the system so values are reasonably firm. I’d say you’re looking at a trade-in value of around €15,000. If you’re going to trade in for new, I’d say going Citroen again wouldn’t be a bad idea. The new C4 Picasso is a really nice car and Citroen dealers will be keen to keep a customer within the marque, so you’ll probably get a good deal. If you’re going for a Carens, I’d say go nearly-new – let someone else take the first year’s depreciation hit and then still have five to six years of warranty left to run.
