Should a petrol car's emissions be higher than diesel?

Why Peugeot 3008 petrol 2014 model CO2 is too high , is this car have any manufacturing defect? at the same car diesel engine does not have that much CO2.What is the reason? Thank you so much in advance

Our answer:

Hi Bijoy,

That's quite a normal situation. CO2 emissions are directly related to fuel consumption and, in general, a diesel engine will be more economical than an equivalent petrol one. Lower fuel consumption means lower CO2.
