Hi, just a vrt query, I'm looking at a 2007 cayman 2.7L manual, the vrt calculator only lists the cayenne, any idea on vrt cost? Thanks

Our answer:

Hi there,

With such niche models it's not easy to estimate an accurate figure, I'm afraid. First hurdle is the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP) that Revenue will attach to the car. This will vary depending on options fitted and though I will estimate an OMSP here of say €25,000, Revenue may come up with something completely different. You can appeal it after you pay the VRT...

So, next up we need the CO2 figure. As far as I can see, the manual 2.7-litre Cayman of 2007 emitted 222g/km, on the NEDC regime. Revenue will 'uplift' that to a WLTP-equivalent figure, which brings it to 239g/km, so VRT will be charged at 37 per cent. With an OMSP of €25,000, that makes VRT of €9,250. On top of that you'll have to pay the NOx levy, though that will be tiny in comparison to the VRT bill.

And, if the car is coming from England, Wales or Scotland, you'll have to pay VAT and import duty, too.

Obviously there are a lot of assumptions in this, and Revenue has its own way of doing things, so take it as nothing more than a guide to how it might work out. Hopefully it's of some help.
