Yes, that engine does have a timing belt. You can use a wide variety of oil grades. We'd recommened semi-synthetic or fully synthetic and there are oils with specific Volkswagen Group codes to look out for. Those that are fine for the Irish climate include OEM VW 502.00, OEM VW 504.00 and OEM VW 501.01. If you can't find reference to those, look out for the SAE grades: 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-40, 10W-50 or 10W-60.
