It depends on the age of the Duster you’re talking about. When it was first introduced, the Duster did not come with standard electronic stability control (ESC), which without question made it significantly less safe than much of its opposition. Since then, though, ESC has been added as standard, so if you’re buying a new Duster, there’s very little to worry about. When it was tested, in 2011, by the independent safety experts at Euro NCAP, it got a three-star score, but much of that was because it was marked down for the lack of ESC. If re-tested today, it would probably score four stars.
