Is Suzuki grand Vitara 1.9 diesel engine a reliable car,does is have a timing chain and when do I change it ?

From your information we are assuming you mean the 129hp 1.9 engine made in the Grand Vitara from 2005-2015.
It has a timing belt, not a chain. The belt should be changed at least every 75,000km or five years, whichever comes first.
The Grand Vitara is quite rugged and dependable, but as it's now getting on, it has developed quite a lot of known issues and faults so go into any purchase with your eyes wide open and check the car over thoroughly.
