Question on importing from the North...

Hi, if a car is for sale in Northern Ireland and has a uk reg but the car was in Northern Ireland before 2020 is it still liable for import duty and vat or just the vrt

Our answer:

Hi Gabriele,

The reg plate doesn't matter so long as you can prove that the car has been in the North - and used - since before 2020. Then you should not be liable for VAT and import duty.
